In a historic event on Friday, 29th November 2025, One Thousand One Hundred and Eighty-Seven (1,187) cadets of Regular Course 7 were formally commissioned as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Passing Out Parade (POP) at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, marked the successful completion of five years of rigorous academic and professional training for the cadets.
The academy’s programme combines intensive policing skills with higher education, ensuring graduates are both academically accomplished and professionally prepared for service.
At the ceremony, the newly commissioned officers also received Bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines, highlighting the Academy’s commitment to producing well-rounded and competent police officers.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, congratulated the cadets on their achievement.
The President urged the officers to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the performance of their duties.
He further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ongoing police reforms, improved welfare for personnel, and enhanced operational capacities to strengthen national security.
The ceremony attracted a host of dignitaries, including Shanta Emily Knowles, Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, and Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, members of the National Assembly, senior government officials, and senior serving and retired police officers also attended the event.
Traditional and religious leaders, the Provost and academic staff of the Nigeria Police Academy, as well as parents and well-wishers, graced the occasion.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended the new officers for their resilience, discipline, and dedication throughout the training period.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the foundation of effective policing rests on character, discipline, and professionalism, reminding officers that their core duties include protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and rebuilding public trust.
He encouraged the cadets to remain steadfast, upholding transparency, accountability, and service to humanity as they embark on their careers.
Parents and guardians expressed pride in their children’s accomplishments, noting the rigorous nature of the training and the high level of commitment required to succeed.
The event featured military-style drill displays, formal inspections, and a march-past, showcasing the discipline, coordination, and readiness of the newly commissioned officers.
Speaking on behalf of the cadets, the Senior Cadet pledged their commitment to professional conduct, ethical policing, and community engagement, promising to serve the nation with dedication and loyalty.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, reiterated that the training and commissioning of these officers reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to modernizing policing and improving public safety across the country.
